KD’s ability to offer flexible and customized programs for each of our students is rooted in decades of experience and a passion for helping families achieve their dreams.
Our team thrives on watching our students grow, and we treat every student and parent like family. Learn more about our story.
The best prep program for you should be determined based on a number of factors such as your grade level, learning preferences, availability, and score goals.
KD’s signature test prep option is the Complete™ Test Prep for 9th-12th grade. This program gives students access to our proprietary curriculum, flexible class schedules, the KD Student Portal, and numerous prep activities for the PSAT, SAT, and ACT tests. With this option, we don’t charge an annual fee: you pay once to prep until high school graduation, if needed. To find out which test prep program is best for your student, schedule a free consultation.
High school is a busy time for most students, and finding time to attend classes at a tutoring center may not always be feasible for your teen. Luckily, we provide a wide range of live-online and self-paced prep activities such as live-online lessons, on-demand workshops, or virtual practice tests that your student can complete at home.
Our goal for all KD students is to finish testing by the end of the 11th grade. Ideally, this allows students time to spend on the college admissions process before they begin 12th grade. However, students may need to continue to test into their 12th grade year for a variety of reasons.
Preparation for the test can begin as early as 9th grade, although some high-performing students are ready to begin in 7th or 8th grade.
With the Complete™ Test Prep, there is no annual fee. KD works with students until they achieve their testing goals or until high school graduation.

Yes, but guided instruction in a classroom environment can eliminate stress, teach you effective testing strategies, and may lead to better results. With Complete Test Prep, we take the guesswork out of studying for admissions tests. Students don’t have to carry the burden of knowing what to study and when. Instead, we provide a clear path for them to follow, and most students benefit from having this level of guidance and structure through the testing process.
KD students on average see a typical 100-400+ point increase. With consistent practice and guided instruction, our students often see a significant improvement with their scores. Keep in mind that participation is a necessary aspect of our test prep programs. Students who start early and engage in our activities on a regular basis are the ones who garner the best results.
The amount of time you set aside to study for the SAT test will vary depending on your schedule and your score goals. Some students dedicate time daily throughout the school year to prepare for tests, while others decide to prepare on the weekends, during summer break, or during extracurricular off-seasons.
Our flexible class schedules make it easier to find time to prepare. Can’t find a schedule that works? Schedule a consultation with an advisor to create your own test prep plan.
A perfect score on the SAT test is a 1600, but you don’t have to be perfect to get into your dream college. Your score goal will depend on where you want to apply to college. The average national score is about 1060. But if you want to go to a highly competitive school like Harvard, you will need a score in the 1470-1570 range. Read more about what is considered a good SAT score.
Most students won’t see a significant score increase if they only spend a few weeks preparing for the SAT test. That’s called “cramming,” and waiting until the last minute usually creates more anxiety and chaos. For this reason, we recommend that students begin preparing for tests as early as possible to maximize their chances of reaching their test score goals. Planning early usually leads to the best results. Luckily, you can take the SAT test more than once, so even if it's too late to make a difference before the next test, a student can usually plan to take it again in a few months.
